Delays...

Monday I had my first visit with the radiation oncologist. It was pretty straightforward, as I had been given a brief description of what was to be done by my oncologist. Basically the plan is for two full weeks of radiation. The first is called 'involved field irradiation'. They target any large, or suspicous tumors and zap them. This happens twice a day for a week.

The second is called 'total lymphoid irradiation', where they target all of the lymph node areas twice a day, for a second week. However, this is done as an inpatient, so I'll check into the hospital for a week of 'TLI', then flow seamlessly into the transplant.

Unfortunately everything is being pushed back an additional week because they want to do a CT scan to check on progress after my last round of chemotherapy. This is pretty good since they'll only be radiating spots that really need it, but is a bit frusterating, in that I'll be sitting around twidling my thumbs for another week.

Anyways, my schedule basically looks like this:
Week of 1/22: CT Scan, Doc's Visit's
Week of 1/29: Radiation 'Simulation' (Setup & Dry-Run)
Week of 2/5: Outpatient Radiation
Week of 2/12: Inpatient Radiation & Begin Transplant
