Camping: Sequoia National Park

This past weekend was a nice excursion down to Sequoia National Park. It's located in the Sierra-Nevada Mountains, east of Fresno, and south of Yosemite Nat'l Park. It was organized by the newly-engaged Dan and Arlene, and was a chance to catch up with a bunch of old friends from RPI, all of whom now live in California.

We commuted the 5 hours to the park Friday night, so Saturday we decided to enjoy the weather and not push to hard on our day-hike. We hiked about 4 miles into a sweet alpine lake, located at about 8500 ft. above sea level. We took some time to swim and have a liesurely lunch:

I felt pretty good on the hike, despite the altitude, and happy that my fitness is slowly getting better.

We got home from the hike around 3, and spent the next 9 hours chillin' by the campfire eating and catching up. It was pretty fun:

Sunday we visited the General Sherman tree, which is the largest living thing on earth. As you can see, it doesn't quite fit in the picture (Ryan, Dan, Minh, Bassam, Grant, Andy, & me):

It's the last week of summer, and classes start next week for me, so I'm resting up and getting ready for another (hopefully my last) semester.
