Day's 1 & 2

I'm finally checked into the hospital! Although I know it's going to be rough in the coming days, I'm excited to get the show on the road. Day's 1 & 2 are technically Day's -11 and -10 with the transplant being Day 0. Yesterday was pretty chill, I got settled into my new pad, and had some X-rays, an EKG, and other routine tests. Today I'm supposed to start my second week of radiation, and also get ANOTHER permanent IV. Although this will be slightly different than the "port" I've had in the past. Apparently this guy will have 2-3 "lumens", or places they can hook and IV tube up to, so they can infuse several different things at the same time. Exciting.

So I'm located in Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital at:
1275 York Ave.
New York, NY 10021
Between E67th and E68th St.'s

I'm in room 835, so when you enter the hospital tell the guards that, and they'll point you in the right direction. They've told me I can take visitor's whenever, so it's cool to just stop by, however it's REALLY important that you don't come if you aren't feeling well, have the sniffles, drank too much the night before or haven't showered in more than a day (I added the last criteria due to the size of my room). I won't be able to fight off any sort of bacteria, etc., even very normal stuff, so you get the point.

For those of you thinking of driving MSK has a parking garage, with reasonable rates, on 66th Street between First and York Avenues. To reach the garage, enter East 66th Street from York Avenue. The garage is located about 1/4 block toward First Avenue, on the right (north) side of the street. A tunnel connects the garage to the hospital.

Jeff,

I was saddened and very sorry when I heard about all that you've been through. I remember you as always being tough, determined, and somebody who always rose to the challenge and I'm sure that hasn't changed. I know you'll beat this thing.

Your in my prayers.
