Round 2

It's now been 2 weeks since my last treatment. I'm feeling good for the most part, definetely no more nausea, and if it wasn't for the bandages all over my chest I'd probably feel somewhat normal. Oh yea, and I'm pretty sure my hair is starting to fall out, but other than that, normal :)

I had some bloodwork and another planning session with Doctor Wolf yesterday, and it looks like my red blood cell count is low, so I'll be admitted for treatment number 2 this Thursday morning. I'll recieve another round of I.C.E. over 3-4 days, and hopefully be out of the hospital by Sunday.

As for the future, I've got some decisions to make. I'll have another PET scan after this coming treatment. Then 2 weeks of radiation (twice a day). Then a stem cell transplant. Since the radiation will take place shortly after the holidays I have to decide whether I want to have it done here, in Albany, or in NYC. After that I've decided to have my stem cell done at Sloan-Kettering in NYC. It's pretty much the top Hodgkins treatment facility in the world, and my doctor is Craig Moskowitz who invented the treatment I'm on now, pretty amazing. Here's a link to one of his many papers on relapsed Hodgkins: http://tinyurl.com/yj3ye2

Other than that, nothing too new to report, I had a great Thanksgiving down in SoCal, where I stayed with Grant and Allyson. We had a great turkey dinner, and caught up with a ton of people from RPI. Definetely a good trip to recharge with.

Thanks again to everyone for their cards, emails, and blogs.

Take Care,
-Jeff

Jeff,
Ryan Denner mentioned you yesterday morning for our "mission moment" at our Team in Training workout. He told us you were a pretty amazing individual and great friend. I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know you have a lot of people working in your support. You and people like you help us to keep our focus on that which is important - finding a cure to beat this thing once and for all. Your indomitable spirit in the face of cancer is a true testament to your bravery. I wish you the best and a very speedy recovery!

Hi Jeff,
I am a teammate on Ryan's TNT Team training for Lavaman. On Saturday, he told us about you and your courage in fighting lymphoma. We were all very touched and determined more than ever to get out and raise funds to help the researchers find a cure. I just wanted to let you know that there are "unknown" people out here praying for you and working toward your cause, so DO NOT GIVE UP! You sound like such a fighter. I know you will persevere!
